It would be nice if it was a simple equation-like a percentage of the selling price. It is instead a math equation based on the countys perceived market value, multiplication rates and equalization factors. then the different taxing bodies like school districts and Village etc step in to say how much they need to operate and out comes your tax bill. But wait-- there are then differing exemptions ...
